Welcome to the Research Responsive School!
Why the Research Responsive School?
Wendy Zacuto, MA, created the Research Responsive School in response to the political decision-making trend dominating American education. Through her long career as a teacher, preschool through high school, and as a school administrator in both charter and private schools, Wendy observed the process of leadership and decision-making from a wide array of perspectives. She noticed the interplay between well-intentioned political agendas and school personnel seeking to improve the lives of teachers and students. As a doctoral student, Wendy is immersed in current educational research which complements her own dedication to classroom and on-site school-based data collection to support decision-making and innovative practices. Seeking a platform to help administrators and teachers honor their own curiosity and scholarly inquiry, Wendy created the Research Responsive School.
What is the Research Responsive School?
The Research Responsive School is a place for educators to share curiosity and insights in the world of learning based on the research process to facilitate quality education for all students. The Research Responsive School encourages a close collaboration among teachers, administrators, and school governance to ensure that data guide decision-making, with full awareness of the fact that each decision yields a cost and a benefit.
We define educational research in four ways, honoring both formal and informal methods of data-collection about students and administrative practice:
- Classroom action research
- Scholarly investigations
- Library research
- Caring and intuitive observation of students engaged in the learning process
What can the Research Responsive School offer educators?
The Research Responsive Schools offers a free educational network for educators. We invite educators to share our blog and experienced consultants to support the learning process for individuals and schools. We encourage public and independent schools to join our mission, providing a place for staff to engage in dialogue, create networks for sharing ideas, highlight events and special projects, and develop skills as educational writers.
In the coming months we will provide opportunities for schools to look for talent and for talented educators to locate opportunities for employment.
Please contact us for your input, hopes, needs, and ideas. We seek to support you in the important work you do each day, to make this world a place in which all children can learn.
